From a very young age, Elizabeth Stefanka has always been a visionary and innovator. Ever since she was a teenager, she never fit into the standard sizing when she was shopping for clothes even though she had a passion for fashion.
At 17 years old, studying Fashion Design, her teachers insisted that she follow the measurements while designing clothes to follow traditional sizing structures. In that moment, she realized this method doesn’t make any sense. Many of her friends and family had lots of different body shapes so she wanted to find a way to fit clothes to ensure everyone felt confident and comfortable in what they wear. She decided to make a change.
She then began her Bachelor of Consumer Sciences (BA. Sc.) determined to fulfil her vision which involved understanding consumers needs but also their behavior. She obtained her Masters of International Business (M. Sc.) specializing in Innovation and Creativity in 2014. Elizabeth was further inspired through her family working in 3D industry. She saw an opportunity to use the innovative tools from the 3D world to acquire precise body measurements and develop software to use this data in the apparel industry. In 2014, Stefanka Inc was born.
Elizabeth has been awarded numerous awards internationally for her entrepreneurship as well as her unique expertise she has contributed to the industry. She is often asked to present at many conferences worldwide to share her specialisation in digital transformation, retail innovation and entrepreneurship. She is very passionate about encouraging and supporting other inventors and business through the committees and boards she is a proud member of.
In 2014, Elizabeth finally made her dream a reality when she founded Stefanka Inc. At first, the company specialized in using technology and innovative tools to make custom-fit bras. They developed software that would precisely measure client’s breasts without human assistance. This was the first product worldwide that took into consideration the breast volume as a measurement that could be directly applied to the design and manufacturing processes. Within 9 months, Stefanka Inc. was contacted by retailers interested in using the 3D scanning technology for their ready to wear clothing.
This saw a shift in the business model from custom made manufacturing into more technological focus. The company saw the potential opportunities using technological innovation in fashion and manufacturing. Stefanka Inc. moved towards creating a web platform to match the right product based on the anthropometric. Stefanka’s products have a unique ability to optimize the entire value chain with a sustainable impact through the software they develop bringing ensuring the consumer is back at the centre of the retail experience.
Stefanka Inc. continues to evolve, being agnostic of technologies meaning the software itself can rely upon any new hardware or devices new to the market and therefore ensuring the client always has the first mover advantage.
